ASME Tank Manufacturing: How Tank Fab Gets it Right

Your ASME tank can make or break your business.

If your tank isn’t performing as well as it should, your production can slow down, and you’ll inevitably lose money.

It’s important to understand how the manufacturing process works so that you can make an informed decision when you’re planning for a new tank.

There are many steps involved in ASME tank manufacturing, affecting different moving parts.

It’s a long process, but the results are worth it.

We have confidence that our products are well-made and environmentally safe.

The rules and codes that dictate ASME tank manufacturing are precise and must be adhered to for the sake of quality and safety. We’re careful to follow these guidelines to the letter.

Let’s take a look at how our process works.

What exactly is ASME?

The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) is a group of professionals that research and produce guidelines for many industrial manufacturing groups.

Pressure tank manufacturing is included in that group.

Check out the steps in our procedure.

1. Design

It all starts with the design process. We schedule a meeting with you to learn about your future tank’s unique needs. This includes learning about your company’s operation that the tank will be used in. Many times we discover by learning about your process, we can offer you additional suggestions to either increase the life or efficiency of the tank.

We have an incredibly talented team with well over 90 years of experience designing tanks.

The sophisticated software we use helps to ensure that all of the ASME tank manufacturing codes and regulations are met.

After an extensive review and your approval of the design, we move on to the actual ASME tank manufacturing.

2. Manufacture

Upon approval of the tank’s design, our manufacturing team uses our Quality Control program, that is approved by the ASME and National Board, to ensure your tank meets our standards and the code’s rules an regulations.

The tank will go through multiple reviews by our quality control team and a 3rd party inspection agency during the manufacturing phase.

Upon completion of the tank’s manufacturing, final testing of the tank will be performed.

3. Test

The tank will be tested using various methods.

These methods are dependent upon what the tank is designed for, but usually, the tank will be pressure tested to a pressure of 1.3 times the tank’s designed working pressure.

These tests are observed and approved by both our quality control team and a 3rd party inspection agency.

After completion of an acceptable test, the tank’s design and manufacturing documentation is reviewed for a final time and is accepted by the 3rd party inspection agency.

This assures the tank meets the requirements of the ASME Code and is safe for operational use.

4. Maintain, alter, repair

Your ASME tank will require maintenance to keep it in tip-top shape so that your production can run as smoothly as possible.

We’re happy to help with your tank’s regular maintenance, and any alterations or repairs you may require over time.

ASME tank manufacturing you can count on

Learning the process in which your tank will be used and detailing your unique needs assures that your tank will run smoothly. You’ll also keep up production up and hit your revenue goals.

We want to help you be as productive as possible while lowering the operating costs of your businesses.
