Autoclaves: Are You Getting the Most Production Out of Yours?

Streamlined processes.

It’s the goal for any business. But, in the manufacturing world, it can make or break the amount of revenue you’re bringing in.

Of course, your equipment is the key.

Let’s take a closer look at one integral piece of equipment we custom manufacture at Tank Fab: The carts (also called “tram cars”) that carry your product into and out of the autoclave.

Autoclave carts

Autoclave Systems are used in many manufacturing industries such as rubber, concrete, wood treating, and aerospace.

And each autoclave uses a cart-type system to move the manufactured product into and out of the autoclave.

Have you ever thought about this cart and how it might be limiting the amount of production you’re getting from your autoclave?

Most carts I’ve seen in these industries are flat on top and use some type of wheel system to move with.

This is okay, but what if you altered the cart itself so it would hold more product inside the autoclave?

Below is a photo of the cart we manufacture for use in the utility pole wood treating industry.

By curving the arms on the cart to match the curvature of the autoclave, we maximize the amount of wood poles that can be preserved within each of the autoclave’s production cycles.

Another example is the carts we manufacture for use in treating railroad crossties with wood treating preservative.

Below is a video from our YouTube Channel showing this type of cart being removed from a treating cylinder.

Autoclave ingenuity

There’s no one-size-fits-all when it comes to your specific needs.

Custom tram cars can streamline your processes and give your revenue a boost.

Is your current autoclave cart designed to get the most production out of each production cycle?
