Partnering with a reputable service provider is make-or-break.
Downtime is a slippery slope. Processes lag and money is lost.
Tank Fab has become a leading service provider of ASME (American Society of Mechanical Engineers) Code Tanks and apply our services to a wide range of industries.
We have been designing these tanks for a half a century now and built a trusted reputation with our clients through the years.
This blog gives you a look into some of the companies we’ve partnered with and the function our ASME Tanks we manufactured have served.
The first ASME Code tank that we manufactured was in 1995 for the Intertape Polymer Group. A leader in the packaging industry, the Intertape Polymer Group is one of the largest tape and film manufacturers in America.
The ASME Tank we manufactured was part of an expansion Intertape Polymer Group was undertaking at one of their tape production facilities. The project required a large ASME Code Air Receiver – with nozzle connections located in unique places – in order to fit into an existing location.
This project laid the foundation for the wide range of clients we serve today.
Flash forward from tape dispensers and other adhesives to dealing with Nuclear Fuel Rods and testing explosives. Tank Fab has repaired or manufactured ASME Code tanks for powerful companies like GE Nuclear Energy and the AMTEC Corporation that use these tanks for significant projects.
In 2005, we worked with GE Nuclear Energy to repair ASME tanks they’ve used to transport
nuclear fuel rods.
With about 430 working nuclear power reactors in 32 countries, having a safe means of transport for all materials involved becomes absolutely pivotal.
Many of these nuclear materials have various classifications of waste, such as Exempt Waste, Low-level Waste, Intermediate-level Waste, and High-Level Waste. The tanks transporting these hazardous materials need constant monitoring to ensure they are operating safely. At Tank Fab, we are accredited by the National Board of Pressure Vessel Inspectors to repair and or alter existing ASME Code Tanks.
When we worked with GE Nuclear Energy we repaired their existing ASME Tanks to ensure a safe means of transportation for their Nuclear Rods. Nuclear Rods are used in these reactors to control rates of Uranium and Plutonium fission. The rods are designed to absorb neutrons without themselves fissioning.
At Tank Fab, we fully understand how critical a project of this nature is and always take on these challenges with the utmost care and proper procedure.
The AMTEC Corporation is the single largest-volume producer of 40mm Grenade Ammunition and fusing in the world. They are currently the sole contractor to the U.S. Department of Defense for the 40mm Family of Grenade Ammunition.
As a prime contractor to the US Department of Defense, an extreme value is placed on delivering safe, effective products that soldiers can rely on. These productions are often tested in ASME Code Tanks where pressure and other measurables can be tested.
Our Facility in Rocky Point, NC has over 80,000 square feet of space where we weld our custom ASME Code Tanks. The ASME Code tanks that we manufacture at Tank Fab are fabricated out of either carbon steel or 304 stainless steel.
In the AMTEC Corporation project, we built two ASME Code tanks for them to use when conducting tests of explosive devices. This information is shared with the proper government agencies to gain valuable data and insight into these devices.
No matter what industry you’re in – or everyday object you’re reaping the benefits of – ASME Code Tanks, like the ones we design, are likely affiliated in some way.
We are proud to have partnered with a diverse group of industries through the years.
We have only been able to do so by always ensuring that we follow the proper codes and client’s guidelines to manufacture the best possible product.
How would a customized ASME tank change things for the better for your operations?
