A few years ago, we were excited about finishing up a new transfer deck system for one of our clients.

After months of design and fabrication work, our latest material handling system for the wood treating industry, what we call a transfer deck system, was ready for shipment to our client.
This deck was unique in that it was moved laterally with large hydraulic rams that were attached to the client’s current drip pad area.
These rams were designed to move the deck over eight feet in distance while it is fully loaded with pressure-treated dimensional lumber.
In order to avoid possible contact between the rams and forklifts, that load and unload the lumber off the deck, we designed the system so the rams would reside under the deck’s main structure.
Once installed at the client’s site, we fabricated a steel structure around the ram’s end attached to the pad. This helps minimize any damage to the ram’s outer housing if a forklift does contact it.
